Marinas
The company design, manufacture and install Pontoons and Fingers
for use on Coastal and Inland Waterways. See bottom of the page
for examples of our work.
Pontoons & Fingers
The pontoons are either 6, 8 or 10 metres long by 2, 2.5 and 3 metres
wide (UDL 2.0 - 4 Kn/sm). The fingers are 1m wide by 6, 8, 10 or 12
metres long with a 2m Lead in (UDL 1.2Kn/sm). All fingers have raduised
ends and are fendered with PVC or Docksafe.
The main frame is fully welded steel fabrication with 180 x 75
RSC main members and includes a SHS central torsional member all
acid pickled and hot dip galvanised finish.
The deck can be:
Celcure Treated Swedish Redwood
Hardwood Earthwood
GRP Panels (in any BS colour)
Fibre Reinforced Concrete
The floats are rotationally moulded UV stabilised medium density
Polyethylene. This process produces a one-piece shell approximately
5mm thick which is virtually indestructible and resistant to oil
and chemicals. The floats are filled with polystyrene beads which
are injected with steam to form a solid mass. They are secured in
position with stainless steel angle brackets fixed to stringers
with stainless self tap screws.
Access Bridges
Access Bridges are fabricated in either mild steel (galvanised after
manufacture) or Aluminium and come in a range of sizes to suit application
(see picture below).
Moorings
The pontoons can be moored by fixed piles into the sea bed or Universal
Beams fixed to quay walls. Chain and Seaflex moorings are also widely
used and fixed to the sea bed with either anchors, concrete blocks
or screw anchors.
Recent and Current Projects
Recently installed 50 metres of Pontoons with Earthwood decking at
Warrenpoint Breakwater Pier in Northern Ireland and also 100 metres of
Pontoons and Access bridge for Wick Harbour Authority in Caithness
Current projects include a New Pontoon system in the River Clyde for
Loch Lomond Seaplanes, 36 berth marina extension for Tobermory Harbour
Association and 120 metres of Pontoons and Fingers for Lossiemouth Harbour Board.
